"We Are Not Ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ"

The Year of Maturity

...I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell on the tents of wickedness.  Psalms 64:10

The ministry of ushering is like salt which makes everything more palatable.

Ye are the salt of the earth...Matthew 5:13  Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt.  Colossians 4:6

A good usher is like "a city set upon a hill" Matthew 5:14.  They become landmarks to church goers who learn to depend upon them.  They provide stability and a sense of welcome repose.  They are a source of church information.  Ushers are like a lamp on a stand, not put "under a bushel but on a candlestick: and it giveth light unto all that are in the house" Matthew 5:15.  Lamps bring warmth and welcome to all who are in the room.  They dispel darkness and bring emotional warmth.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.  Matthew 5:16

It is the nature of Christian character to radiate.  The radiance of this glory is for the Kingdom of God,not self.  The attitude for which the usher communicates to church members and friends helps set the spiritual tone for everyone else which is to happen.  The usher has an enormous obligation in helping lead people into readiness for learning, worshipping, and evangelism.  Just as a pastor preaches in the Spirit, the choir sings in the Spirit, so must the usher work in the power of the Holy Spirit-bringing glory to God in the Lord's house, on the Lord's day.
